How should I supply files?

Specifications on file supply are generally straightforward. The following guidelines will help you to provide us with workable files.

Which fonts can you support?

Our font library for PC and MAC is very extensive but it is helpful if you provide us with your printer details and screen fonts.

When supplying files in Adobe Acrobat PDF format you need to make sure you have distilled your file selecting the option to embed all fonts. In this instance we do not need you to provide us with the font details as well.

Software options

We can accommodate a wide range of software because digital printing does not use films or plates like conventional litho. This includes the following packages:

Adobe Acrobat PDF
Quark Xpress
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Pagemaker
Adobe Photoshop
Macromedia Freehand

The following file types can be supported, but a PDF is generally preferable.

Corel Draw
Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint & Excel
Microsoft Publisher

If you have a different package, please call us on 01483 567595 or email info@crownlitho.co.uk to check compatibility.

Planning up your artwork

If you are producing artwork for items such as business cards which normally are printed “several up” on the page, please still provide the file just “one up”.

Image size

Ideally, image files (graphics and pictures) should be provided at a resolution of 300dpi, and at the same size they appear in your document. However, using digital techniques, we may be able to achieve reasonable results with lower resolution images and with smaller file sizes. To check, please call us on 01483 567595.

Image file types

Many image file types are supported by our system including EPS, JPEG, TIF and BMP. You can save images as either RGB or CMYK but CMYK is preferable if you have both options.
