Director Robert Avery, started the business in the garage of his home in Godalming in 1976 and built the business over the years to what it is today, producing high quality printed materials for local businesses, as well as nationally.
Crown have continually invested in the latest technology to keep ahead of the game. In 2000 Crown went one step further by taking a decision to proactively address their corporate responsibility for the environment by achieving its ISO 14001, and in July 2003 received the Surrey Sustainable Business Award for Best Environmental Improvement.
More recently, Crown was again recognised for its innovative thinking and featured in the print industry press for being the first UK print company to use a chemical free plate making system to further enhance their environmental credentials.
When asked about his 40 years in business Bob Avery, Managing Director of Crown, commented “It’s not all been plain sailing, but I’ve learnt a lot along the way, gained a son-in-law and some grand-children, and met some wonderful people”.
Senior Account Manager Alison Ball says “Most of the staff at Crown have been here for over 20 years, and I can see why – the finished product is excellent, the clients are happy as a result, and so are the staff. It certainly makes my job a pleasure, as an Account Manager.”
In this anniversary year, Crown continues to look to the future with the acquisition of a higher resolution, digital press, and a die cutting and foiling machine that will appeal to businesses on a budget, that are wanting to make a splash with their marketing materials.
Jason, father of two, Studio Manager and expert in all things digital, and Alison, customer treat generator, and chief Account Manager both completed the Fleet Half Marathon on Sunday, with very respectable times.
Striving to be the best it can be, is at the heart of Crown’s ethic, so when the race became a subject of discussion, it was not long before ‘bets were laid’ and lycra donned for the challenge.
Crown have just taken delivery of a new digital press
Jason’s skill and attention to detail has always meant that Crown’s digital printing capability has brought out the best output from the machines that we have had, but now he’s flying…
Our new press offers higher definition colour with a sharper, brighter output with improved contrast. It has an inline spectrophotometer that helps deliver improved consistency and quality at almost double the resolution available to us in the past. And has even more adjustments that continue to excite and fascinate the team as they discover the new machine’s vast capability.
We can even overprint onto envelopes, now! I’m just waiting for the moment when Jason bounces into my office to report that it makes coffee too.
Wiro binding is an economical way to bind manuals, brochures and documents that have too many pages to saddle stitch with wires. The wires allow the books to be layed flat on a surface, which makes this method of binding ideal for training manuals, or workbooks. Upto 25 sheets of 80gsm paper, including card covers, front and back only 85p each (minimum order £30)
With some keen runners amoungst the staff at Crown, we thought it only fitting to sponsor the all new Hampshire Hoppit.
The Hampshire Hoppit marathon and half marathon are both trail races, i.e. predominantly off-road. They use routes that will be clearly marked and marshalled, and including local sections of famous long distance footpaths, the Wayfarers Walk and (for the marathon) the Harrow Way. Both are scenic single-lap courses that will start and end at Kingsclere on the Hampshire/Berkshire border, reaching some of the highest points in Hampshire with views across the county. There are occasional quiet road sections or road crossings that will be marshalled.
The races will be held under UK Athletics rules. The permit from the Trail Running Association (TRA) is Permit 103.
Every finisher will receive a unique engraved beer glass and a thirst-quenching fill of ‘Hoppit’, a Classic Ale (3.8%AV) from the Loddon Brewery, available from the post-race bar at the Race HQ. The half marathon will receive a half pint engraved glass, and the full marathon will receive a full pint engraved glass.
Exhibiting at a business show for the first (or second, third or even tenth!) time can feel a little daunting. When it is expected to be a large event, the most common worries are “Will I get noticed?” “Will anyone actually come to speak to me?” “Will I get my money’s worth” and usually “Will people only come to my stand if I have sweets, then leave again?” All valid questions, but with the right preparation, you can totally make the most of the event and get a lot out of it.
It can be tough to get everything you need together for a big event, or just for your own business needs.
It can be even tougher when you need to relay your ideas to a design and print company, who need to share your vision and get it right the first time.
So, to help you, we have put together a handy infographic to help you know how to improve the process between your printers and yourself, to make sure your printed marketing looks fantastic!
